If you’ve been eating gluten free or low FODMAP, you may have some experience being less than impressed with some of your grocery store purchases. Not all gluten free items are created equal, and some companies really drop the ball when is comes to texture, you know what I mean 😉 That’s why my team and I decided to review a bunch of products for you and share which were our favourites to take a little bit of the guesswork out of gluten free shopping.
Whole O’s – Great for kids or the kid in all of us (because who doesn’t love Cheerios). These definitely satisfy that breakfast cereal craving. Serve with lactose-free milk, milk alternative, or on it’s own as a snack.
- Low in sugar – only 4 g per 2/3 cup
- 3 g of fibre per serving
- Made with brown rice flour and corn flour
- Sweetened with cane juice and pomegranate juice
- Nature’s Path Organic also makes a variety of other equally delicious, not-too-sweet breakfast cereals like their Crispy Rice and Mesa Sunrise Flakes
Love Grown Oat Clusters
I tried this granola because I had a craving for really delicious but hearty cereal when sometimes Gluten Free Chex or O’s just aren’t enough. So I tried this Love Grown Foods Brand of Oat Clusters and they were amazing. With a very simple ingredient list – maple syrup instead of honey, and nuts – they are so close to healthy and almost low FODMAP! They come in a couple of different flavours like Cocoa Goodness and Sweet Cranberry Pecan! Definitely need to add this to the list of must-trys!
Blue Diamond Natural Nut Thins
These delicious gluten free crackers come in a variety of sweet and savoury flavours that are perfect to pair with all types of dips and cheeses. They are made with nuts which contributes added protein to this light snack (3 g of protein per serving).
- Sea salt
- Cheddar cheese
- Country ranch
- Pepper jack cheese
Crunch Master Multi-Grain Crackers
These great tasting crackers are made of a blend of whole grain brown rice, stone-ground corn, oat fibre, and a 4-seed blend. These crackers provide some dietary fibre (3 g per serving) and come in 3 delicious flavours: sea salt, roasted vegetable, and white cheddar.
Mary’s Organic Crackers Ginger Snaps
These crunchy ginger cookies make for a delicious gluten free treat. Not only are these cookies great tasting but they are:
- Dairy Free
- Wheat Free
- Gluten Free
- Kosher Friendly
- Trans fat free
- Free of hydrogenated oils
Udi’s Gluten Free Soft & Chewy SnickerDoodle Cookies
These soft and chewy cookies are an amazing treat. We definitely are not talking about healthy eating here, but once in a while it’s important to be able to treat yourself and going gluten free doesn’t mean you don’t get to eat amazing and delicious treats! Also try the chocolate chip cookies or mini brownies from Udi’s – all located in the freezer section of the grocery store to keep them fresh!
These cookies also make a delicious pie crust! Check out my recipe for a Snickerdoodle Pumpkin Pie!
Much love & good eating,
